Put these 4 items into mystic forge you get infused ring that grant you two infusion slots that you can put 2 agony resistance (AR) infusion in. You can then attune the infused ring giving you. In my last Guild Wars 2 guide I've explained the basics of Fractals of the Mists but I didn't talk about infusing and attuning ascended rings. So, here's the guide. In this guide I hope to answer the following questions:.How do I Infuse an Asceneded Ring?.How do I Attune an Ascended Ring?.How do I add an extra infusion slot?

This article is about upgrading gear. For upgrading structures in WvW, see Objective upgrade. For upgrading an account, see Account#Upgrade.

I.e., you can have up to 18 infusions active at a time and there are at most 20 slots (depending on your class) + 1 Enrichment slot. Only you can answer the question if it is worth going for the stat infusions. With +5, you can get +90 in total. However, if you frequently do fractals I suggest that you at least get agony infusions.

Upgrade items improve your equipment's performance. Double-click an upgrade, and then click on a piece of gear with an unused upgrade slot to fuse the upgrade to the gear.

— Upgrades

Slot

Upgrade components are items that can be added to weapons, armor, trinkets, and gathering tools. The equipment must have an Upgrade Slot to accept a component, and most upgrade components require the item to be above a certain level. Upgrade components grant bonuses (such as increased attributes or effects added to attacks) while wielding that piece. Some upgrades have special cosmetic effects. Upgrades can be crafted, bought, found, or obtained as a reward. Upgrade components in an item can be replaced with another upgrade component, but doing so will overwrite the previous upgrade. Upgrade components placed in items cannot be recovered except by either salvaging the item (with a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool), or by using an Upgrade Extractor. Equipment from karma merchants will often come with an upgrade component that cannot be replaced or salvaged. However, glyphs and upgrades in legendary equipment can be swapped freely.

Types of upgrade components[edit]

Universal upgrades[edit]

Primary article: Universal upgrade

Universal upgrades, which include gemstones, are upgrade components that can be placed in any type of equipment. They provide smaller bonuses than components that are type-restricted, but they are easier to acquire than most other components.

Jewels[edit]

Primary article: Jewel

Jewels are upgraded versions of gemstones created by a jeweler; they provide larger bonuses but can only be placed in trinkets.

Runes[edit]

Primary article: Rune

Runes can only be placed in armor. Each armor piece can have no more than one rune. Placing the same type of rune on different armor pieces worn together will give the wearer additional, accumulating benefits. For example, a single Superior Rune of Balthazar will give a +25 bonus to Condition Damage, a second (on another piece of equipment) will add on a +10% bonus duration to burning if worn at the same time, and so forth. This means that the player can accumulate armor set bonuses on any set of armor pieces, rather than having to acquire specific armor pieces in order to finish a set and gain the full bonus.

Runes are noteworthy for being able to grant abilities and stats unobtainable through any other equipped source, such as creating effects when struck, increasing movement speed, and decreasing weapon swap time. As such, the choice of runes can be more involved and beneficial to a build than choices of accessories. However, other rune sets simply provide large benefits to basic statistics, and are replaceable by other components such as gemstones and sigils.

The first number (ex: 0/2 Minor Rune of Dwayna) represents the number of armor pieces with that particular rune embedded that you currently have equipped. When you have a piece of armor that asks you to have 2 pieces of rune ex: (0/2 Minor Rune of Dwayna) that means you should have two pieces of armor that hold that type of rune. It does not mean that you need to apply the same rune to the same piece of armor twice. If you do, your current upgrade will be destroyed.

Sigils[edit]

Primary article: Sigil

Sigils can only be placed in weapons. Each one-hand weapon may have only one sigil. Two-handed weapons can have two separate sigils, but both must be different. (You cannot double or otherwise 'improve' a sigil's benefit by slotting another of the same type to the weapon(s) currently in use.) Sigils have a variety of effects, such as attacks which trigger on critical hits, passive damage or attribute bonuses, or triggering effects when swapping to a weapon with that sigil slotted.

Infusions[edit]

Primary article: Infusion

Infusions are a special type of upgrade component used for non-amulet ascended equipment, legendary equipment, and some non-ascended back items. Enrichments are upgrade components that can be placed in ascended amulets. Infusions placed in an item can be recovered by salvaging the item or with an Infusion Extraction Device.

Glyphs[edit]

Primary article: Glyph (upgrade)

Glyphs can only be placed in gathering tools. Glyphs enhance the speed and functions of gathering tools. Unlike other upgrade components, glyphs can be removed and reinserted indefinitely and will be placed into the inventory if replaced by another glyph.

Notes[edit]

  • Replacing an upgrade component may alter the suffix of an item.
  • Upgrades must be of equal or lower level to the item being upgraded.

Types[edit]

Mechanics[edit]

Upgrade slot[edit]

  • Ascended armor and weapons have the usual upgrade slot, one slot for armor and one-handed weapons and two slots for two-handed weapons.
  • Ascended trinkets and back items, however, do not have an upgrade slot; instead, the equivalent bonuses of an ascended jewel are added to the inherent attribute bonuses. In most cases the built-in jewel matches the prefix of the base item, but in some cases they differ. For example, the Jade Wind Orb has Dire base stats (Condition Damage, Toughness, Vitality), but the built-in jewel has Rabid stats (Condition Damage, Precision, Toughness).

Infusion slot[edit]

Gw2 Add Infusion Slot To Rings

  • Ascended items also have an infusion slot (or two in the case of two-handed weapons). Infusions, which mainly provide agony resistance but can also (or instead) provide a small amount of extra stats, can be inserted into these slots
  • Ascended rings can be infused and attuned, each of which adds an extra infusion slot (for a total of 3).
  • Ascended back items can be infused to add one extra infusion slot. The only exception is the Bough of Melandru, which already has both slots in the uninfused version.
  • Ascended amulets have an enrichment slot instead of an infusion slot. These are mechanically similar to infusion slots, but only accept enrichments (which provide bonus gold from monsters, magic find, experience from kills or karma).

Uniqueness[edit]

Most ascended trinkets are marked unique, meaning you cannot equip two identical trinkets at the same time.

  • The exception being ascended rings and accessories from Raids.
  • There are usually two unique rings or accessories for any given set of stats (for instance Ring of Red Death and Crystalline Band for Berserker's stats rings), both of which can be equipped at once.
  • Attuned or infused rings don't count as the same item, so it's possible to equip a ring together with its own infused or attuned version.

Changing attribute prefix[edit]

Primary article: Stat changing

Ascended weapons and armor can be put into the Mystic Forge to change the attribute bonuses of the item. These recipes create new items and destroy any upgrade component on the item in the process.

Salvaging[edit]

Salvaging equipment grants unique crafting materials and items used in the crafting of ascended and legendary equipment. Ascended equipment can be salvaged using special salvage kits:

  • Ascended Salvage Tool
  • Ascended Salvage Kit
  • Ascended Salvage Kit

There exists a Rare Collectionsachievement connected to salvaging ascended equipment: Ascended Recycling.

Trivia[edit]

  • In the storyline of Guild Wars, Ascension was a rite that players had to go through in order to gain the Gift of True Sight, which allowed them to see and fight the mursaat. To defend against the Spectral Agony used by the foes, players could infuse their armor, similar to using infusion against the Agony effect of bosses in Fractals of the Mists.
  • Ascended equipment types were released in separate releases:
    • Rings and back items were introduced with The Lost Shores and were originally available only in Fractals of the Mists (November 16, 2012)
    • Amulets were introduced with Flame and Frost: Prelude (January 28, 2013)
    • Accessories were introduced with Flame and Frost: The Gathering Storm (February 26, 2013)
    • Weapons were introduced with Super Adventure Box: Back to School (September 3, 2013)
    • Armor was introduced with A Very Merry Wintersday 2013 (December 10, 2013)
    • Breathers were introduced with Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns (October 23, 2015).
  • Originally, the stats on ascended items were displayed in two parts: the base attributes and the upgrade-equivalent values. The May 28, 2013 update changed the display so that each attribute appears only once.
